Sansevieria is a genus of about 70 species of flowering plants native to Africa, Madagascar and southern Asia. Within this genus species vary greatly, ranging from desert succulents to thinner leafed tropical plants. The sansevieria is commonly referred to as the snake plant or mother-in-law’s tongue and will grow in a wide range of lighting conditions from low indirect light, to direct sunlit spaces. Sansevieria thrives on neglect, having earned its nickname as the “unkillable” plant. However it’s sensitive to overwatering, which can cause this plant to rot.

LIGHT REQUIREMENTS
Prefers bright light, but is extremely adaptable to low light conditions.

WATER REQUIREMENTS
Be sure to water your plant upon delivery. Sansevieria like dry soil and will rot when too much moisture is present. If soil is dry and beginning to pull away from the planter walls and the Sansevieria leaves are beginning to wrinkle, it is time to water.

HUMIDITY PREFERENCE
Low humidity. Be careful applying too much moisture as the stalks can rot.
